DJ Soundwav is Angel Acevedo, disc jockey and award-winning art director. Born in Puerto Rico, but hailing from Miami, Florida, Angel has been spinning EDM since the mid 90’s. Being a fan of progressive and hard house he was inspired by Christian DJs/ Producers like AJ Mora and Scott Blackwell. To showcase the art of DJ’ing at a club or radio station is a dream that has stemmed from the very beginning.

In 1995, Angel landed his first DJ gig at a local skating ring while in high school. Those were the days when he created EDM mixed tapes for himself and friends entirely on his favorite boombox. He also interned at Real FM, a local radio station, after school— a small foreshadowing of what would come later in his DJ career.

Fast-forward to 2001, Angel helped launch Club Tsunami, a local lounge hosted by Grace Church's youth group. Cleverly coinciding with Club Tsunami’s brand, the “DJ Soundwav” handle was given to him by his youth pastor. At that same time, Angel started working at a local print shop as a junior designer. As DJ Soundwav commenced the new season of Angel’s DJ career, his newly found interest in the design industry grew parallel in the next few years.

After DJ’ing at several Miami based parties, weddings, clubs and lounges, DJ Soundwav was invited to be an on-air personality in 2006, on La Nueva 88.3 FMs new urban-latino radio show with Manuel “JBlaze” Garcia on Friday nights. La Nueva also provided the opportunity for Angel to host his own show, dubbed Radio Revolution FM, on Saturday nights. The innovative programming and solid imaging of the two shows solidified DJ Soundwav’s craft in the Magic City.

After successfully signing-off at both programs in 2009, Radio Revolution FM immediately evolved from FM dial to 24-hour online play. That same year, DJ Soundwav created Savage Podcast, which released monthly mix-sets of new positive EDM, mostly progressive and electro house music.

Presently, Angel continues to Program Direct Radio Revolution with the latest indie and electro music featuring artists and DJs from all around the globe. As his mix-sets gain popularity, Savage Podcast subscriber’s base continues to grow. Always on the hunt for new music, he hopes to one day produce EDM, inspired by DJ’s, producers and artists like Gesafflelstein, Chromatics, Hardwell, Kaskade, Kavinsky.

Currently you can find DJ Soundwav as resident DJ at The Artisan Lounge in the Miami downtown area, events are bi-monthly where he spins electro house, dubstep, indietronica & chillwave.
